[ms office - o365] Mapped Drives

We have all our user data in Office 365. We use cloud mapper software to map users one drive. We would like to do the same for sharepoint but are having some push back from the SLT, as they believe that microsoft doesn't recommend it. My argument is that we have third party educational software which requires local drives.

 

How does everyone else do it? Do you map sharepoint in file explorer?
