HP E5406 zl Switch

We had one of the ZL modules break on this switch. Would I be right in thinking that slotting another module into that bay would just work? No additional config needed. Would the new module just pick up the config on those ports again?

Assuming it's the same type, yes. As far as the switch config is concerned, provided the port is the same (B8 = B8) it doesn't really care what the port can actually do.

I'd remove the faulty module, turn the module off using "no module 2", change the number accordingly. Put new one in and set it up.

 

I've tried a direct swap with a like for like, but the J numbers were different (newer revision) and it did some strange things. so best to almost start fresh.
