Mandatory Profiles

I thought I has posted this, must have not pressed submit!

 

I have been asked to look into Mandatory Profiles and I have had some success.

However, currently the profile is much larger than I would like (150MB).

 

146MB of that is AppData that was captured during the SysPrep/copying of the profile.

 

I opened the Adobe CS6 suite, Office 365 suite, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

 

I have been asked to compress this down to around 10MB.

 

Has anyone any experience with this sort of task?

If you're creating a Mandatory Profile, do it on a computer with a newly installed copy of Windows otherwise you end up with lots of unwanted crud in the profile. Also if you follow a guide such as this one, it'll show you the process for doing it as well as what to remove afterwards.

 

You'll also probably get others on here telling you that you shouldn't be using Mandatory Profiles and that Windows 10 doesn't support them. The truth is, they're not officially recommended anymore but the tools to make them are still there, including a fairly recent tickbox that allows you to mark a profile as Mandatory that wasn't in earlier builds or versions.

I used to run profile quotas and CS6 saw the quota as a target to double..

 

Needless to say I had to remove the quotas and schedule tasks every night to clear the adobe folders out of peoples appdata folder and clear profiles off machines

 

I'm happy to let users customise things a little so the requirement for mandatory profiles isn't there for me. Profiles just get removed from workstations if you don't log in for 30 days
