misterchris Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Anyone using these in school? We would like to get a set of 36 to share between a 3 form year group. Are the Asus's a viable option?
localzuk Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 We have a couple which are used by SEN and I have another 10 in their boxes ready to image up ready for use by our english department for 'typing up work'. They are good for quick use stuff, or personalised stuff. So i'd recommend them really. 1
misterchris Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 cheers, for that - the main use i see us having would be for accessing the internet for research and our new VLE. I like the size of them which means they can be on the desk alongside text books etc rather than having to clear the desks to get laptops out. Any other comments gratefuly received
localzuk Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 The only thing to remember is that they shouldn't really be used for long periods of time, as the screens would end up straining the user's eyes. Also, if you have any children with particularly chubby fingers, they may end up pressing 2 keys at once. One disadvantage is that there is currently no external battery charger, and as such they need to be plugged in/you can't have a second set of batteries on charge waiting to swap in.
misterchris Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 Thanks again. As for the chubby kids - they'll be too busy running round the field to lose weight - Healthy Schools!!!
strawberry Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 they're super as long as you are happy with the fact they are only an access device. The moment a teacher 'just' wants to make a change, they cant. I'd get a really detailed description of what a teacher wants in writing before purchasing them, they are super machines but we all know how teachers always want that little extra and these beauties simply wont give that little extra.
