[1909, ou] 1909 June CU - New "Feature" News and Interests

A warning to those on 1909 or later, this months CU has introduced a news and interests widget on the taskbar.

 

At first glance I thought it was just a weather widget, but on closer inspection it also had links to news articles that you would not desire to be front and centre in an educational establishment.

TLDR; go to: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > News and interests > Enable news and interests on the taskbar

 

The ADMX templates have been updated for 20H2, earlier releases will need to obtain the Feeds.admx once the update has downloaded.

I did it as a quick fix via GPP before I update the policies, (you only really need feeds.adml and feeds.admx which you can get from a windows 10 client)

Nice one, ta. WSUS farmed this out to my PC last night, and I'd just come on here to complain

 

I was worried for a second there that a feature update had slipped through undetected!

Had this today and had to hunt around for new admx templates to download, took a while as kept landing on an old download page. Havent got the link on me now but will post tomorrow if someone else doesn't get there first.

Installing the MSI just puts the GPOs into a folder in Program Files, you need to upload them to your central store still

There's a full MS article under the download link I did above (under the related resources) that explains how to do it from the download, obviously shout if you get stuck but best to have a flick through that first
