ICT_GUY Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 I will start by saying that I purchased £20k of Meraki AP's and it has been a joy to install and get up and running with multiple vlans and SSIDS. However, trying to return the demo unit has been a nightmare. First there was Brexit which prevented us even being able to organize a pick up. Then 4 months later when Meraki finally allowed us to schedule the pick up it was picked up and then returned with incorrect customs paperwork a week later (we used everything that Meraki sent us). And then the threatening emails started to arrive. I tried rescheduling a pick up, but I was unable to do so as it was showing that the demo unit had been picked up and was in transit. Despite responding numerous times nothing seems to be moving forward and we are no closer to being able to return the kit. Our business manager is none too pleased at the prospect of a £800 bill for stuff we don't want/need. Just a heads up on the head aches these trials can now cause.

I've had a similar experience returning some HPE Warranty Failures - we had a power cut and 2 switches in our core stack failed to come back on. HPE sent replacements inside 24hrs, but then the returns service asked for a reference number that wasn't there and the threatening emails started arriving while I was waiting for returns to sort out the reference number I needed. Quoting them the ticket number of the enquiry for the reference number made them back off, but when it was finally picked up by DHL it was returned to us 24 hours later as refused by recipient and the threatening emails turned up. Got cross and phoned DHL to demand tracking data and discovered they had tried to deliver the parcel at 7pm. DHL apologised and said their driver had been spoken to and they'd 'mis coded' the attempt. They came and picked it up again the same day and this time it got to the warehouse in Manchester, but then got lost inside the warehouse somewhere. I obviously have no control of a 3rd party groupage provider but HPE were not happy about it, and continued to send me emails until I phoned them and DHL at the same time and got them on a conference call together to discuss what had happened. FN-GM Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 I had issues returning Meraki equipment. When I first started my position with a had storeroom with lots of random make and models of various spares and surplus equipment. This was mainly due to to the non standard equipment out in production. (Lots of that fixed now). Anyway, I was there for over 6 months and got the threatening phone calls. I had no idea the previous management had loaned the equipment more than 12 months before. It took months for them to tell me what was loaned and the returns procedure. We finally got the information and after going through the storeroom I managed to find it all. I didn’t even know we had it in there. Anyway it was boxed and ready for return. However the shipping company wouldn’t collect it. I ended up sending a member of staff to the airport to drop it off at the depot. I never heard anything since. Fingers crossed!
ICT_GUY Posted May 24, 2021 Author Posted May 24, 2021 Hopefully it won't come to that. I am still hoping that someone from Meraki is going to get in touch and sort the mess out.
ICT-Joe Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 We're having a similar issue here - we've been trying to return some trial cameras we had from Meraki since January and have just been told to hold the parcel until they can guarantee the shipment. They did also say it's a problem with UPS exporting packages to the EU on their behalf though. 1

I'd speak to whoever it was who sold you 20k worth of their kit. They obviously have a relationship with meraki and perhaps can broker a suitable resolution. 1
ICT_GUY Posted May 26, 2021 Author Posted May 26, 2021 Actually I am on good terms with that vendor, obs. Ill give that a go if its not resolved promptly. 1
