Shortcuts for apps

How do people create/copy shortcuts for their start menus?

 

I currently create them via GPO which can be time consuming but does mean they only get created if the software exists - so I wondered if there is a quicker/easier way of copying shortcuts for only installed software.

As you said, I just use group policy preferences > shortcuts. Does everything I need and I can target users if needed.
