Good morning,

I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on designing a report within Sims. We often distribute things out to students in their last lesson of the day and I am always asked for labels, however at the moment year groups all finish at different times/periods. I was wondering if it would be easier to set up a report in Sims, along with a label template to make it an easier job.

I need the report to show student name, class, teacher and room at a selected period to be defined at run time, along with a year group filter.

I've had a go but can't seem to get the fields/filters correct to make the correct data to appear. Any advice on how it can be done would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's the way I have been doing them up to now but I wanted to make it an easier job by just running a report and the labels are automatically produced by the report. It would save having to keep doing the report from the student list then merging the data into labels.

I have just had a quick play and managed to do what you want like this:

Lesson filter.png

So you have to put the items in and filter to the lesson with the name. the name is formated at the Column on the top of a students timetable (for us it is AMON, ATue ....... BMON, BTUE.....) then a colon and the period number for Thursday week B period 6 for us is BThu:6

Make sure you set the effective date and roll that forward to next week, as if you are in holidays at the moment, it will not run.

Hopefully this makes sense to you (it kinda does in my head)

EDIT: Year group filter is still done on the normal filter screen, it is the lesson part where you put the filter for the class information.

Glad that worked, filtering further down like that can cause headaches and are too easy to miss in the interface for my liking, but at least you now have what you need :-)
