[h=1]Our client is looking for a Senior 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to join a vibrant and well-established Network team in the Education sector.[/h]Role Overview

 

With an excellent starting salary of £40,000 per annum, and the progression to £41,000 per annum, this role is a fantastic opportunity for an IT expert. This full time role will give the successful candidate plenty of opportunities to develop their skills, as well as the chance to join a reputable and respected team.

 

The successful candidate will hold key technical responsibilities, and will need to be willing to work flexibly within their team. A Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.

 

Responsibilities:

 

● Assist the Network Manager to ensure that support requests are prioritised and resolved efficiently

● Carry out planned maintenance, upgrades and backups

● Install server updates

● Run network security audits

● Maintain hosted wireless network infrastructure

● Maintain and support G Suite

● Maintain and support Cisco Switches / Network and Routers, Microsoft and SQL servers

● Administer web filtering procedures

● Resolve second and third level support requests

● Help to plan and implement new IT services

● Ensure the IT teams work to agreed budgets and ensure all IT projects are good value for money

● Help the IT Manager to set annual budgets

● Keep on top of new IT products and processes to be able to recommend opportunities for improvement

● Help to create an IT business and disaster recovery plan

● Actively participate in further training

 

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:

 

● Degree or equivalent qualification, as well as the following qualifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) amd ITIL Foundation

● Working knowledge of all aspects of IT systems and networks

● Knowledge of the installation, configuration and management of: HP San; HP brocade, cabling systems, CAT5 and fibre-optic; Routers (ISDN, WAN, LAN); bridges (ISDN, Local and Remote); switches and filtering; SNMP Management (CISCO works); Symantec Netbackup; VMware VSphere; Business Continuity; UPS management and configuration; and diagnostic equipment.

● Previous experience in the Education sector

● Experience and knowledge of project management

 

Person Specification:

 

● Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal

● Comfortable working as part of a team

● Good time management skills including the ability to meet deadlines

● Excellent negotiation skills

 

Nice to have but not essential:

 

● Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

● VMware (VCP) VSphere 4.1 or higher

● Basic VBS scripts

● Prince2 Foundation
