Afternoon all,

I have a handful of users who use EXA as their ISP and for some weeks now O365 emails do not automatically pop-up on arrival, forcing users to refresh of press F5. They've narrowed it down to filtering and the MTU size being the issue, but it still persists. Has anyone else experienced this and if so have you reported it?

Using Google Chrome, all up-to-date. At home (on a school provided device), no problems.

We encountered this a few years ago, though we weren't with Exa. Unfortunately, I'm struggling to remember exactly what the cause was. I have a feeling it was something to do with the Smoothwall filtering. We logged a call with Office 365 support, through the Admin Centre and they were using Fiddler to do the trace.

Presuming you have done a network trace with exa,

We ran Wireshark (at their request) and sent off the log file, but they're now ruling out the MTU being the issue.

It is something filtering related, as the issue doesn't occur at other schools (different ISPs) and the issue doesn't occur at home either.

We are with EXA and we get email notifications, are the schools direct with EXA or through Link2ICT.

Happening with both, one of each, pretty much at the same time.

I should add most users are absolutely fine, which makes the issue more difficult to isolate as to why. Have tried all obvious things such as resetting browser to default.

Both users are using transparent proxy, if that makes any difference?

We dont use the transparent proxy but we have the following in the default profile.

.microsoftonline.com

.outlookmobile-office365-tas.msedge.net

.safelinks.protection.outlook.com

login.microsftonline.com

outlook.office365.com

hope they help

I've been asked to specify the proxy: ad.quantum.exa-networks.co.uk Port: 3128

If this works, it kind of reminds me of the BGfL days...
