online course setup and layout

We are a small school and don't use moodle etc. our Online classes have worked using teams for each class and teacher. However we have won a tender to host a week long course for 100 students and I planned to use teams and SharePoint to do this.

 

We will have 100 students broken into 5 class's on 20 students, with class timetable and resources folders and announcements in SharePoint. I was going to create a team with 5 private channels, one class per channel. But while I can schedule the classes using the private channel email address, I can only show a group event calendar in SharePoint showing class for all 5 classes. Is there a way to show a calendar for the private channel only?

 

Or have I over complicated it? would I be better off creating 5 separate teams, sharepoint sites etc?

 

Has anyone any advise before I go too far down the rabbit hole?
