NQT+1 teaching loads

Morning all,

 

I'm looking into teaching loads for colleagues in their second year, the government is proposing funding so that they can have 5% reduction in teaching load, but I'm unsure as to whether this is teachers starting NQT years in 2021 (so comes into play for teachers in their second year from 2022) or if it should be implemented for September.

"From September 2021, the government is funding an entitlement for all early career teachers in England to access high quality professional development at the start of their career. New teachers will now receive development support and training over 2 years instead of one. The offer for early career teachers includes:

• additional funding for 5% time away from the classroom for teachers in their second year"
  

 

Be grateful for any thoughts, my reading of that is that it's for September's NQTs.

I've done my curriculum models for next year based on 2nd year teachers being able to access the additional 5%

Thank you - I think we'll do the same, but consider giving them the 5% as whole days from time to time rather than as teaching load.
