Hi all,

I am looking to deploy .net framework 2 using group policy. I know how to do but when i run the .net msi it fails telling me to click the install.exe.

any ideas on what to do would be great

Sometimes when you run MSI installers manually they don’t work, but when you deploy them they do (I think its like that for office 07). Try deploying it via Group Policy on your test machine and see if it works.

I think i have got it working at one of the primarys that i support by following this website here to create an unattended batch file installation that i added another few lines of code to check for a text file on the start of the script and not install if the file exists. After install it creates said txt file so it doesnt do it again.

I can post code here if required.

I use this script I created to install it on standalone systems, but would also work if you placed the files on a network share:

@echo off
set PATHTOFIXES=C:\hotfixes\
TITLE Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 + SP1 + Updates
echo.
echo Installing .NET Framework 1.1 + SP1 + Updates...
start /wait dotnetfx1.exe /q:a /c:"install.exe /q"
start /wait NDP10.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe /q /i
start /wait NDP10.1sp1-KB886903-X86.exe /q /i
start /wait NDP10.1sp1-KB928366-X86.exe /q /i
echo.
TITLE Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 + SP1
echo.
echo Installing .NET Framework 2.0...
start /wait dotnetfx2.exe /q:a /c:"install.exe /q"
echo.
echo Installing .NET Framework 2.0 SP1...
%PATHTOFIXES%\dotNetFx20SP1_x86.exe /quiet /passive /norestart
echo.
TITLE Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 + SP1
echo.
echo Installing .NET Framework 3.0...
start /wait dotnetfx3.exe /q /norestart
echo.
echo Installing .NET Framework 3.0 SP1...
%PATHTOFIXES%\dotnetfx30SP1setup.exe /quiet /passive /norestart
echo.
PAUSE
EXIT
