Gen8 Service Pack for ProLiant

Hey

 

I am trying to get hold of service pack for my GEN8 server so i can install server 2016 does anyone have a copy or link to one. hp site is no good.

Lol, I was trying to install 2016 on a MicroServer Gen8 on Sunday, I gave up.

 

About 5-6 years ago I believe I used the Smart Update Manager to update some HP blades at a previous employment. I wonder if that will help you??

The server needs to be under warranty before you can access the SPP ISOs.

 

If the BIOS contains security fixes you should be able to download without login (look through the previous revision list). That's the case for Gen9 servers but I'd imagine the same applies for Gen8 too.

Found the below link. This is the one thing that puts me off buying HP servers for home lab. Switches are normally fine for firmware but it seems HP have chosen to want service plans or is it CarePacks for firmware on HP Servers.

That's why I buy Dell when I buy servers. They don't insist on a support contract to download firmware updates from their website.
