Restoring clustered hyper-v role from a manual backup - unable to attach second disk

Hello all,

 

I'm hoping someone can help me out. To cut a long story short, I need to restore our virtual SCCM server. It's clustered and has 2 disks. One for the OS which is 60GB and the data which is 600GB. I had a backup which I had taken a week before by shutting down the role and manually copying the entire SCCM folder from within Cluster Storage to a NAS (export didn't work) I'll be honest, I can't remember if I shut the role down from Hyper-V or Failover Cluster Manager, I know now it should have been the latter. I'm new to Failover Clusters.

 

I detached both disk 1 and disk 2 from the virtual machine settings and re-attached them both with the backups. The role boots fine, I can log on with a domain account but I don't see disk 2 mapped as the 'X' drive.

 

In Computer Management, Storage, Disk Management - I can see disk 2 but it tells me it needs initialising. If I go through this process, I have to select either MBR or GPT and then it wants to format the disk.

 

I have tried deleting everything within ClusterStorage\SCCM but it won't let me delete certain files, I presume because it's clustered. I have tried manually copying these 2 disks multiple times, tried different drive attachment numbers but I just can't get it to map that X drive in Windows. I'm pretty sure the C drive was location 0, DVD drive location 1 and the data drive was location 2.

 

I have even tried creating a brand new VM on another server and attaching both drives but still get the same problem.

 

I'm sure I probably haven't gone about restoring it correctly but my thinking is if I have a copy of everything, I should be able to get this drive back?

 

Something I have noticed is that in Failover Cluster Manager, the role has 'SCVMM' at the start of the role name. We do have System Centre Virtual Machine Manager. Is this being managed or integrated in some way to this server?
