I'd like front-end users (particularly school sec) to be able to have a simple option the user menu to publish/unpublish a module.

This would let them switch on the urgent news module for instance or Announcement 1/2/3 to say the after school football has been cancelled or the coach is now due back at 5pm and not 4pm.

Is this possible and if so how?

regards

I you want someone to be able to publish or unpublishe you need to make them a editor or publisher also an editor can publish and unpublish but only there own work

This is the whole idea of the backend admin of Joomla and AFAIK can not be achieved via the front end.

 Very good point !

Would it be possible (e.g could you show me :) or point to article) to maybe add an extra icon to the backend main page that would jump to at least the module manager (better if straight to one particular module) to make it easier for "users" to use the backend without causing widespread carnage in the website :)

regards
