pete Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 (edited) We've had 3 people report the following issue with the Teams desktop client. Launch meeting with students (pop-out meeting window by default) Students without microphones post responses / questions in meeting chat When meeting chat gets full, it expands the meeting window to fit chat rather than scrolling the chat Window title bar etc disappears Meeting window begins to expand offscreen Scrollbar on attendees list (for example) unaffected. Closing and re-opening Teams completely can fix the issue, but not always. Affected staff have been using the desktop client for several months without issues. We haven't been able to replicate it so far on test devices / accounts and the affected people are from different departments. They're not zooming (Ctrl +) or scrolling with Ctrl held down. Has anyone else seen this? Edited February 3, 2021 by pete
Jay241 Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 So i have had the exact same thing twice with 2 students. What happened for me is that they joined a Teams meeting as normal, as soon as they click on the conversation box to then type a message in the box, it glitches out, all the meeting bar disapears where you can do everything, and then you cant click, scroll or do a thing. The way i fixed both of these was to simply come out of the meeting, go to their icon at the top right, click "Check for Updates". Then sat and waitied until it told me to refresh the client as updates have been found and then been fixed ever since. Maybe the above helps?
sister_annex Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 (edited) I have an open support call with Microsoft about this, it's been happening since monday on both Mac and PC variants of the app (even after an update) - to be honest we've not had many reports of it today so it may have been fixed. Not heard anything from MS yet though. We found that disabling the New meeting experience fixed it (however has it's own downsides) Edited February 3, 2021 by sister_annex
TechMonkey Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 I've noticed my chat window jumping all over the place today
pete Posted February 3, 2021 Author Posted February 3, 2021 So far we've discovered (based on a test group of 6 people, 4 of whom are affected, so this is at best anecdotal): Version 1.3.0.26064 on Windows appears fine Version 1.3.0.28779 on Windows experiences the problem Version 1.3.0.34662 doesn't *appear* to be affected (only one person to test with) Version 1.4.0.2781 doesn't appear to be affected (64bit on Windows) Presence / absence of preview features doesn't make any difference It's more likely to trigger (for teaching staff) when sharing "whole screen" and using a full-screen slideshow. 1
Sylv3r Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 We've seen it here and as mentioned above a quick check for update appears to resolve it.
Jay241 Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 I had this exact same issue again today. And yeah a simple check for updates, wait for it to do its thing and then refresh the client fixes it. I'll see if i can get the software versions to see which one is the working one and the dodgy one.
Tefters Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Good old Microsoft... Had this issue for a few days and discovered turning off the "new meeting features" by one of my switched on power users today resolves it for now but will ask him to try the update method.
Tefters Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 As of this afternoon I had 2 or 3 users that were fixed with this issue and have it back again in full force...

sister_annex Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Did you get anything back from MS on this? They're still working on it - however we have found that the check update/ restart solution has worked for us in the most
