Wileyfox Swift 2 ROM

Hi,

 

This is a bit of a long shot, but I have an old Wileyfox Swift 2 which has the your device is corrupt and cannot boot and I'm trying to install a custom ROM and I'm kind of going mad going in circles. I am stuck at the first hurdle and everything I am trying goes nowhere. I have adb & Fastboot installed and can reboot into fastboot via adb connection. However I am unable to do anything in fastboot. From what I can see this is because of a driver issue and it is not showing in Windows correctly. I have tried so many different drivers now, but it still is not detected properly in managed devices. I am guessing this is why I am not able to do anything in fastboot.

 

I have rooted & flashed ROM in the past on different phones, but I've never had this issue.

 

Has anyone done this and can you offer any advice from where I am going wrong? It seems I am not even able to start.

I got my kids WileyFox 2's as their first phones and never had to flash them I'm afraid. I did replace screens and a motherbord on occasion though!

I have done quite a bit of Android ROM fettling and the whole ADB and driver issue can be a minefield as there are a few around.

Probably not helped that it is a now a defunct phone brand and anything anyone could have done with them is now in the past.

I don't even have an old one knocking around I can test on either, sorry

No problem, it was a bit of a long shot. I guess if I had managed to root it and get access I could have played with ROMs.

I managed to get TWRP installed by using an old laptop (same drivers worked this time) and I flashed a Lineage ROM I downloaded. This time when it boots I get "encryption unsuccessful error". I've tried reformatting the system to ext4 and re-flashing from here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/encryption-unsuccessful-aufter-flashing-rom.3732484/ but but still I have the same error. Also tried a different ROM but get the same error.

 

I'm starting to wonder if the device is just dead....Has anyone had this error after flashing a ROM? I'm not sure if I've done something wrong or the phone was broken before hand and flashing can't fix this?

@JJonas Now, you know I tried this last night. But on watching this video I decided to look again. When I looked at the format it said ext4, but when I went to change it, it was different. I followed the instructions again and this time it has booted up so many thanks

 

Unfortunately it still comes up with the error "your device is corrupt and cannot boot" but if you press the power button it will boot. Annoying, but at this point I think I give up

@meadowgirl & @msi_school - Thanks, but I don't think that's needed. The phone has already been replaced, I'm just trying to get it functional so my daughter can use it. I want to put some restrictions in place so I've flashed a new ROM. It will have to do for now as we are not buying her a phone

 

Just annoying about the start up, but I'm not going to spend any more time trying to fix it I don't think. Especially after the amount of trouble I had with it on my computer, only to be able to do it straight away on another one
