MrMDStreet Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Hi, This is a new one for me and I can't quite wrap my head around it, was wondering if someone on here might be able to help. I am trying to do the following: CCTV NVR > Ethernet VGA Sender > MS220-48FP > MS120-48LP (In a different building) > Ethernet VGA Receiver To display an image on a connected screen. I have been told it is possible using VLANs & Trunking but I am having a bit of a brain blank today. Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Guest Guest Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 What make/model are the sender and receiver? Are they network devices or devices which use cat5 to transmit the signal?
MrMDStreet Posted January 25, 2021 Author Posted January 25, 2021 They appear to be these ones (https://cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/psg90980/extender-vga-over-cat-5e-6/dp/CS25387?mckv=sJ5xUWUcz_dc|pcrid|426684131165|kword||match||plid||slid||product|CS25387|pgrid|100371159078|ptaid|pla-309736475965|&CMP=KNC-GUK-CPC-SHOPPING&s_kwcid=AL!5616!3!426684131165!!!network}!309736475965!&gclid=CjwKCAiA9bmABhBbEiwASb35VxDM1pzQfjbRLbbV0wDnrIuXytHxQ9pcq_DSZm8uFjr7Hj8cvTuFUhoCkcMQAvD_BwE) They use Cat5 to transmit it seems.
Davit2005 Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 (edited) Is the unit an extender or a network interface/convertor? If it is just an extender it won't work when connected through a network switch. Edited January 25, 2021 by Davit2005
MrMDStreet Posted January 25, 2021 Author Posted January 25, 2021 I would assume it is a converter as it outputs from the NVR via VGA to the sender with an Ethernet out. This ran to a screen with Ethernet in to VGA out.
Davit2005 Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 I would assume it is a converter as it outputs from the NVR via VGA to the sender with an Ethernet out. This ran to a screen with Ethernet in to VGA out. By convertor I meant that it would convert the signal to protocol standards so it would flow though a switch. If it is just converting an input from VGA to RJ45 that is different.
MrMDStreet Posted January 26, 2021 Author Posted January 26, 2021 Then it would be that. Would it be safe to assume this is not going to work then?
