E-Portfolios

Do any of you guys have ePortfolios set up for your students.

If so, what are you using to provide the service?

The head of ICT here is insisting that they develop them in Dreamweaver and she also wants them published to an Intranet server. I don't think thats entirely necessary myself but its what she wants...

Josie Fraser recommends open source ELGG

Integration of ELGG with Moodle and Drupal is on the cards, so you have e-portfolio, course management and content management inter-operating.

 

There is some overlap in what each one does, but none does what the others do well.

 

Interesting post yesterday on ideas on how to put it all together.

Agreed. Apparently you can do class sites on it. Time for a re-appraisal!

For some time now people have been asking about e-Portfolios, but not getting very far! As we all know Becta expects all schools to have a Learning Platform with the capability of an e-Portfolio.

 

The trouble is that most VLEs have their own sort-of-an-e-Portfolio embedded within their system which prevents any sort of interoperability for a whole host of reasons.

 

I have developed what I think is the 'perfect' e-Portfolio for UK schools, ie 'portable' from one school to another either latterally or vertically.

 

Free trials for small groups who want to get stuck in now! Good for an end-of-term project for Yr-9 or Yr-11 students.
