Google Meet and the "use phone for audio/Call me"

Hey All.

 

We recently moved to google classroom and google meet for teaching our online lessons.

Its mostly been Ok, however over the last few days we have received calls from concerned teachers that random US call centres have been entering their lessons.

 

Upon investigating it, it seems the students are using the "Use phone for audio, selecting Call me", and putting in some random US based numbers.

 

I've tried disabling "Telephony" organisation on the Meet Settings page for the top level OU on the google admin panel, but they are still able to do it.

 

Only solution I've found is to disable the "Quick Access" which means the teachers then have to admit the students to lesson.

 

If i could either kill the ability to do it, or tell WHO instigated the call out i would be able stop it, but the audit panel on reporting, just gives me the first few numbers of the dialled out number.

(Contacted google support already, and they where not that helpful, just telling me/teachers to use host controls)

 

Any ideas?

Says it'll take up to 24 hours for disabling Telephony to work:

Allow dial-in access to video meetings.

Video meetings will include dial-in numbers and will let people dial in to use a phone for audio while viewing the video. Learn more about the countries/regions your license supports.

 

Changes may take up to 24 hours to propagate to all users.

Yeah, I saw that, but i made the change on Friday, and today they can still do it.. (Call with google is still open)

ours has it disabled like but it looks like i can initiate a call from the settings menu

Yeah, I see it on the join page for Meet, weird. Need a USA number to test it though
