Jcx500 Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 Got mine on the all access a few months back, Best way to go about it, Xbox live gold and game pass ultimate included
Dos_Box Posted January 14, 2021 Author Posted January 14, 2021 Got mine on the all access a few months back, Best way to go about it, Xbox live gold and game pass ultimate included I already have 18 months of Live Gold to add on there due to @ZeroHour letting me in on a way to get lots of months for free on a deal about a year or so back, which is handy as you can only carry over 18 months onto the All Access program.
DalekSec Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 As much as i love mine 90% of my time on it has been playing either Peggle 2 or Monster Train.. both would be able to run on my phone!

southhamster Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 But can it run Google classroom and Teams! "Mum I really need one for school work"
Bumhug360 Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 But can it run Google classroom and Teams! "Mum I really need one for school work" It runs teams and office apps online fine, we have been issuing keyboards to students with xboxs instead of giving them laptops, as demand for devices is greater than the amount we have I think if someone had a smart fridge they would be told to use that... 1
sted Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 But can it run Google classroom and Teams! "Mum I really need one for school work" i tried google classroom and while it can its so bad i wished it wouldnt (this was a onex not a series x) 1
DrCheese Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 It runs teams and office apps online fine Not my experience, I did some heavy testing on my Series X and it's an awful slow experience. The built in Edge browser is years old, even on the insider builds.
Dos_Box Posted January 15, 2021 Author Posted January 15, 2021 But can it run Google classroom and Teams! "Mum I really need one for school work" Said Dos_Box circa 1983 trying to get his first computer. 2
Dos_Box Posted January 15, 2021 Author Posted January 15, 2021 I do have to ask, given the current cost of expansion cards, and that third parties will be able to produce them in the future (making costs come down), I plan to keep my using old USB 3.0 spinning disk on the new console and am just curious to see if any of you are doing the same and is it any faster in loading than the Xbox One? If push comes to shove, I can get a USB 3.1 caddy and 1TB SSD, which will still be half the price of an expansion card, although much slower still than the PCIe based storage, but a big step up from a USB 3.0 spinning disk (which is probably a 5400 rpm drive).

foofighterjim Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 No quick resume from USB storage either, if such things are important to you. 1
Dos_Box Posted January 15, 2021 Author Posted January 15, 2021 I was just more looking into if the (external) drives are still as slow as on the Xbox One, which did seem to have a bit of slowdown via USB than I would have expected.
JJonas Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Series S in stock at Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08GD9MNZB/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_YzweGbXZBWGX1
foofighterjim Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Saw that Game and the MS Store had some availability this morning, I've ordered a Series X with an extra controller as the eldest has just started getting interested in games. I honestly wasn't fussed initially but a friend recently got one and it just made me envious. My OG Xbox One just runs so slowly now, constant popup in open world games, couldn't even play Ori and the Will of The Wisps properly due to lag in some of the environments (absolutely nothing to do with ability:)). Given the amount of time I actually have to play these days, I actually want to enjoy it when I do get the chance, not waiting 10 minutes to start the Xbox and actually load a game. As you can see, I'm rehearsing my explanations to Mrs foofighterjim this evening!
Jcx500 Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 If Anyone's looking for a series s, they are in stock on game, just got one for the living room
