Info for anyone struggling with Classroom / Meets / iOS integration

We were, towards the end of last year and start of this year, struggling with Google Classroom integration with Google Meets that specifically affected iOS devices. What was happening in a number of cases was:

 

• When meets clicked on an iPad (Safari or App) it would load the app store and ask them to download it
  
• When clickin the meet link it would just go to a webpage with information about Google Meet and how to download
  

 

We managed to replicate internally and have found a fix as below... thought this may be useful in case others are having the same frustrations. In short it seems that just once the Google Meet link needs to be forced open within the Meet app. From then onwards everything works as it should:

Ah, useful, thanks - we had a parent with a similar-sounding issue yesterday (trying to troubleshoot via phone, so still not quite sure what it was they were actually seeing on screen).
