According to the "Getting Started with the Content Library"

"The Content Library is a place for materials such as readings or worksheets. Think of it as the big filing cabinet foryour classroom documents. Only a teacher can put materials into the ContentLibrary. Students can read or copy anything in the Content Library to their ownnotebooks, but can't modify or delete that content."

Yet when I have uploaded a ppt and a docx file into the content library a student was able to edit both files, what is going on?

That link has nothing about file permissions. TBH file permission control is a pretty basic requirement in a collaborative/shared environment.

What exactly then is the point of the content library if you cannot insert files and protect them? Or rather you can if you insert it as a pdf or a printout which is pretty pointless for a worksheet. You can do that in any section, so what exactly is the point of Content Library if you cannot protect what you put in there.
