My go to shop online these days is Amazon but there are times when you have to go on eBay for what they don't have or those random things or something in particular that is older that you need between the two they serve me well. I've been on eBay over 17 years now and probably spend a few hundred quid a year on bits, especially when it comes to doing up old vehicles its amazing what you do find parts wise.

 

Anyway I've always left feedback as soon as items arrive but recently more and more the seller or even the buyer on a rare occasion I've sold something fail to leave feedback even after sending a message saying I've left them can they do the same.

 

Does anyone else find this? It's never affected my feedback rate but surely for those that don't use it a lot its good to see full feedback? I know its something I look at when buying certain things is their feedback.

 

Also eBay and their free listings that then end up costing you and PayPal fees, just lost £5 on sale due to all that (apparently it tells you in the small print!!) nothing but hassle selling on their, just gonna bin stuff next time its far easier!

I still buy stuff from eBay (just got my son some as new Sennheiser HD6 cans for £50 on a late night snipe, so there are still barghains there, but I do find myself using Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree where there are a lot of great deals to be had. Sold some stuff through them too. The only disadvantage is thet buyers come to your door (if you are disinclined to that kind of thing). No fees either!

I try to leave feedback following a successful purchase. For sales, I give feedback only when I received feedback first, but don't chase anymore. I only ever sell things over £10 when they offer the £1 maximum commission - it comes around pretty regularly for me. Paypal commission and general commission means I rarely attempt to sell items under a tenner nowadays, which is annoying as I have for example a number of printer ink cartridges to sell, but are worth no more than £5 and fees can take ridiculous amounts of the selling price - you do have to be careful not to end up out of pocket! I had heard Facebook marketplace is becoming more popular - maybe I should try that. Similar with Gumtree, but I think I'm more likely to use those for selling only - ebay does offer buyer protection - probably a little too much so! The local community app NextDoor might be worth a look too.

The few bits I have are more eBay items but then what what profits in them end up spending more time dealing with it. None of it is particular difficult to get hold of just seems a shame to skip it but its only collecting dust now.

 

Think I'll stick to just buying from there haha

I probably should leave feedback, but must admit I can't be bothered a lot of the time these days, especially when a lot of the time it's small businesses using it as a shopfront. Individuals I am more inclined to, but still not all the time.

 

Seller rating used to be a lot more important when it was almost exclusively person-to-person I think.

I've also noticed a lot of people not leaving feedback anymore.

 

Once someone purchases an item from me I normally send a message thanking them for their purchase, telling them it has been sent, and reminding them that I have left positive feedback and could they do the same for me when they receive their item.

 

However so many don't bother. I wish it was made mandatory.

 

 

Talking of ebay, I really think they need to cut back on fees, especially when you can sell on fb marketplace and it doesn't cost you a penny.
