Procedure for Receiving a donated laptop

Hi

 

A parent would like to donate a used laptop to the school From IT department, Is there any thing I need to do when accepting the laptop - like asking them to fill in a donation form etc ?We have not accepted anything like this in the past and we don't have a donation form...

 

Any suggestion much appreciated.

We normally do not take donations of equipment as this usually causes more trouble than it is worth.

 

If you are considering taking it you should ask for the system specifications in advance to check the equipment is not obsolete.

 

When it arrives inspect it before the parent leaves. If you find any problems then you can politely refuse it.

 

Once you have taken ownership of it you are responsible for its disposal under the Waste Electrical Equipment regulations. You are also responsible for getting it PAT Tested before you put it into circulation.
