Ipad location tracking without Apple ID ?

Hi all,

 

Hope all are good

 

 

I'm looking for a decent app to location track Ipads without an Apple ID/Find My Ipad enabled.

 

 

Does anyone have good experiences/recommendations with any freebie apps?

 

 

We're using Mosyle MDM but I don't think you can force location on..... unless I'm missing something.

Most MDM's now do this...

 

1. Put iPad into lost mode

2. Location tracking starts in the MDM from last time the device checked into the MDM.

That's the problem, you can't really force any of the Apps on, as they could be turned off after the fact under Privacy -> Location Services.

 

After loading the Manager application and agreeing to allow it to track when using the App, you can then go to Privacy -> Location Services, and turn the Manager on there to Always.

 

In the past using lost mode in the MDM I know the advice Brimstone has given has been sound though.

When you put a device into Lost Mode, in Jamf this will wake up location services even if turned off manaully to report where the device is. It won't lock the location service, this problem is down to Apple's privacy rules.

You can also trigger a sound via mdm... great for finding iPads that have been “lost” inside the pupils bag/locker! ♂️

they can turn off location services even with mosyle thats what i was told by support

Y you can change location settings for the app. Not great.
