New macbooks - no more dual boot?

So it looks like the new Apple M1 based macbooks are the end of dual boot. Its a shame as I've used macbooks/airs for years as they offered a good bang for your buck and also the ability to to boot into Windows when you need it

 

I know there's other options but I for one will miss the dual boot era!

I have little doubt that some enterprising soul will find a way to get a non-Apple operating system on them, but yes, the days of running Windows natively on a Mac are numbered.

 

There will probably be a virtualisation platform at some point in the future that will run Windows, or possibly someone will find a way to run Windows on Arm on them but I would imagine that’s a way away.

I believe Parallels have already announced they will support Windows VM on MacOS running ARM, I mean if they didn't it would be the end of their software! I fully expect Dual Boot to be killed off though. Will find out in a couple of weeks when the reviews come in.

Well Parallels is coming to Chromebook for Enterprises, so I'd imagine the work on ARM support is in parallel ( ) for both systems.
