TMBS Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Hi My technician has selected 'Retiring from fleet' when deprovisioning 13 Chromebooks which also deletes the licence - which isn't clearly stated. We can't afford to spend another £260 on Chrome licences, do anyone know of a way to restore them? We're not using on any other devices. Thanks!
aicrd Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you are not allowed to reuse chrome devices licences. You can only reuse them if you are replacing a machine that has failed.
k9mjl Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 1. Yes you can reuse Chrome licences. 2. Contact your Google partner, licences can be recovered by Google but the process can take a while.
aicrd Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 I've just had a look and you can only reuse licences if you buy the exact same model to replace the old devices, otherwise its against TOS. I'm not sure if thats changed at all but I cant find any more info on it. Dell has some info on it. Cant find anything on Google's site: https://www.dell.com/support/article/en-uk/sln293780/google-chromebook-perpetual-license-management-required-when-chromebook-systems-are-replaced?lang=en

I always thought that was the case. You can only reuse the licence if you are replacing a broken Chromebook with the exact same make and model. Have things changed now?

There is the option for 'Different model replacement For example, replacing a Pixelbook with a Pixelbook Go' when deprovisioning, which would suggest otherwise? We're replacing with the same make/model though so not an issue.
