BTLS - Office365 - Lock down Teams for students

Hi all,

 

We have Teams being used here as part of our office365 BTLS subscription. However we want to disable the ability for the children to video call each other and other restrictions. Does anyone have any tips on how to do this to existing accounts? We've already added the students to Teams.

Yes change the students policy in teams admin console to disallow video calling.

Could you be a little more specific? Under Teams admin console > teams > Teams policies, there is just one policy called global and all those settings are greyed out. Also, under messaging policy i see and EduStudent policy but again, these settings are all greyed out.

Apply the 'policy package' for students then edit the things you feel you want locked down. It should be pretty locked down already.

 

You can apply a policy to I think 50 students at a time using the GUI, so its possible to do the whole school pretty quickly.

I would suggest using PowerShell to manage teams - there isn't the 50 user limit.

Thanks for the replies! I think i've gotten somewhere. So I managed under the users tab to select all the student emails, click edit and assign Education_PrimaryStudent to the accounts. It did allow me to select all and i just deselected the staff accounts.

 

As for powershell, last time I tried we didn't have the privileges as county is the global admin, not us.

We allocated the Group Polices to Group email (We have distributions lists).

 

 

It seems to work... We use BTLS but are a Global Admin
