[sims] Hosted Sims Wonde

Hi there,

does anyone know if it is possible to use Wonde for data extracts from multiple schools? We are an authority that hosts multiple sims databases on one Server, and was hoping Wonde had a product that could handle this rather than their standalone product. I have asked this question to Wonde but as yet no reply. Thanks for any help

I guess it could depend how your schools access the SIMS Database, as Wonde could be installed on the schools own server as it just uses the connect.ini to connect to the SIMS database, so shouldn't be any different to a normal install.

As long as the client can see the database and has a valid SIMS username & password for it, it shouldn't matter if you have 1 or 12 SIMS DB's on a single server

Sorry I should have given more detail we would need the Wonde install to be on a remote Server which can access the sims databases not on the schools own client PC's. We would also need that one Wonde install to be able handle multiple school extracts. This is because our schools use RDS\Citrix type connectivity. This would be similar to how we use Groupcall which just runs as a service on the database sever and can collect data from multiple sims instances in one run. Thanks

It depends on the setup and what is allowed but we are able to open up SQL access from our cloud RDP servers. It’s locked down to a specific user, IPs are whitelisted and they can only access the DBs which the user is granted access to.

 

E.g. we have 12 DBs on one SQL server and they only access 7 of them.

 

This works for us as their method of access is direct access and running specific views or running stored procedures.

 

We even have a setup where they collect data from two DBs and collate as one school entity for the end service.

Yes, we use the hosted version of Wonde, if you speak to Wonde they can set this up for you

Sorry I should have clarified, we use the Hosted version of Wonde in our Hosted environment, not sure if it's actually available to end users, there is also a Hosted version of Groupcall Xporter available, again not sure about end user access to this
