Teams Live Events

Unfortunately we have found this doesn't add Live events it only enhances live events you get from A3, sorry for the misinformation, we were led to believe this was true

We ended up just using our BigBlueButton servers for live events, can't do thousands, but hundreds achievable with the right server setup, and that's fine for us

Am I right in thinking we would only need a minimum amount of A3 licenses, as its the only the scheduler that needs a licence to create the event itself? So outfitting head of, or marketing or IT only would be fine? Thanks

Correct, just license whoever is going to host the live events if multiple at once or if it's always going to be 1 at a time then just create a dummy o365/on-prem account and license that one and then use that to host.

 

I ended up doing 4 for our head of years as they do weekly assemblies at the same time otherwise I would of done the dummy account approach.

We have been quoted for OVSF O365 Edu A3 Open Fac AddOn toUsrCore at just over a tenner a piece, sounds cheap is it right? I assume its an A1 to A3 upgrade cost rather than a full A3 hence the low cost

Pass, I couldn't be assed going through OVS and reseller. I just brought the licenses through O365 on my CC, wasn't exactly a bank breaker at £30 a license for the year.

I appreciate some help on this as I'm getting a confusing message from my reseller regarding this.

 

We're on OVS-ES and I enquired about getting a few licenses of A3 so I could enable live events. He informed me, after talking to who they get them from, that to do it legally we would have to purchase A3 for the entire faculty numbers we have on our current EVS-OS. Which would be adding over £3k to our current costs.

 

Surely, as what people have mentioned here, couldn't I just add my school CC to the tenant and just purchase a few A3 licenses myself? But, I was told no I can't do this, but from what I can see it will let me.

I was quoted for just the number of A3 and A5 licences we would need under our OVS agreement, not for every member of staff. Currently using trial licences on the few that need them but am now under pressure to purchase the numbers we need as the trial is about to finish.

Thanks appreciate the reply - I feel I'm being told the wrong info then. Any MS resellers on here that want to help clarify this?

We just asked our reseller(RM) for 5 x 23K‐707 OVSF O365 Edu A3 Open Fac AddOn toUsrCore 1YR AP @ £10 ish a licence, got them, applied them, all sorted

These type of license(subscription) are separate to OVS-ES, and therefore are not subject to FTE count, as far as I know.

Just purchased 25 A3 faculty trial licences to see if I can extend our trial period if I don't get the purchasing of the real ones sorted in time. We have a live event happening on the day of expiry so am unsure whether this means we are still licenced during that day or does it expire at midnight?
