plexer Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 My openfiler based SAN/NAS from SCL arrived yesterday. It's quite a beast of a machine curently has 8 750GB drives installed with space for another 4. So around 5TB of storage. I'm going to be using around 2TB for disk to disk backups replacing our current 1.5TB Buffalo NAS. The other space will probably be used for VMWare images and possibly WDS ones as well. Ben
Ric_ Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Perhaps a review could be mailed to me on your experiences with it?
pete Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 ++ I'd be interested in a review / performance figures. Currently deciding on a backup setup here.

The iSCSI was simple to setup. Ben
Elky Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 I'm sure there is a review on this floating around somewhere!
plexer Posted July 3, 2008 Author Posted July 3, 2008 pete I haven't done any performance figures yet as I am waiting for network hardware to consolidate the network in the remote location for the OF. There is a review that has been submitted for the newsletter. Ben
wesleyw Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 @Plexer sorry to bring back an old thread but did you use OpenFiler in the end for your VMs?
plexer Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Hi mate, Had a few issues with the hardware and it's currently being reconfigured with a hardware raid card and few other changes as well. As I bought an intel storage chassis I bought the open-e dss software in the end for it. Thanks. Ben
