Think I've posted in the correct thread.

 

Anyway, just wondered if Google Classroom is difficult to setup or how long it roughly takes and what's needed.

Depends what you want setting up? Have you got a Google domain already set up with users populated in it for example?

 

Generally speaking G Suite is pretty easy to administer, certainly a lot easier than O365.

Once you've got a functioning G Suite domain that you're happy with, there isn't really anything else left to do in terms of Classroom. It's just there without anything in the way of Admin options. The only thing iirc is setting how your staff users get confirmed as 'teachers'.

Do you have salamander sync already? If you do, once there is a Google G Suite domain they can sync your timetable straight to it and create all the classrooms automatically for you.

 

The other one thing you may still be able to tap into is the government funding available through The Key website for setting up G Suite or Office 365 if you don't already have it. Thay may be very useful for you.

As above and once the platform is in place, it might be better to have the teachers manage their Google Classrooms - after all, the manage the real ones.

If new to it, get teachers to do their own classroom then if working well look further down the line to GAM, or sync software etc

Do you want to create extra workload for your team?

If the DFE plan is an option ask for a demo or proof of concept.

 

What is your MIS, is up to date with them details that you will upload - sync?

If you use one, advise your staff, that they can rename the classses by keeping your MIS names intact in front of them.

What connectors you currently use, Wonde, Salamander, SIM ID? If yes, then this will save you a lot of work.

Manually? Confirm in advance the main user identifier.

 

SSO or password synch will remove a lot of issues. You have options for this.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm completely new to Google Classrooom. Not even started with it. I have been aware of schools using the Dfe funding to get this setup, but thought for future use, once the funding has ceased, it maybe an opportunity for myself to setup. Our schools use SIMs. It's just a thought, but something else I'd like to get my teeth into if it isn't overly time consuming.
