Webroot DNS Web Filtering

Hi all,

 

Just wondered if anyone out there is using Webroots DNS Web Filtering with Cloud-Based Protection and 3 questions in relation to it if I may :-

 

1) It is easy to setup ?

2) Is it straight-forward in allowing or disallowing categories, websites ?

3) What is the support like if help is needed as with the antivirus support it is all done via a ticket system ?

Looks great but would it only really work over the entire school having the same policies rather than by group or OU.

 

We have different rules for teachers and schools here such as blocking or opening YouTube

If its DNS only filtering then I'd also say its fairly easy to bypass. Just change the DNS servers on the device you use. Whilst not a problem for school owned devices as they can be locked down you could run into issues if you have BYOD as all you'd need to do is use something like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8.
