maxrebo Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 So, the Pupils have discovered this and chat amongst pupils is now rife! I've found the option to disable this in the policies - Just before I do - is there any way of stopping chat between pupils but allowing them to send to staff (from feedback, staff have said this is quite handy for pupils to ask questions to them) Thnaks
Boredguy Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 You can disable chat in the general channel, and you can enable moderation mode in the additional created channels, so staff can turn on if students can reply or not during the session
MkII Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Unfortunately not. Shame as it works well for kids that don't want to chat publicly in 'posts'. The controls are solely lacking. Monitoring seems impossible too.
mavhc Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Best thing currently is private channels with 1 student in each, make them in powershell perhaps

Bit stuck with this one - Staff use this to chat to pupils and have said its a must that this is kept open - I've not trawled through the Teams admin yet but is there any settings at all for this? Thanks

Thanks As @MkII pointed out, there are very few auditing options available within the chat. We have disabled it for a number of reasons but the biggest was due to the lack of auditing which we assessed as a safeguarding risk, every school is different and assess risk differently so YMMV. 1
LoveBug Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Although Teams currently does not allow the sort of control you are asking for and as far as I am aware, is not on the roadmap. You can at least have full monitoring of all Teams conversations through SENSO.CLOUD however, which monitors all Teams Chats even without the need to have the client installed. This has made a huge difference to allowing more flexibility to using Teams, especially with distance learning and other lock down issues. We are now not reliant on Teachers monitoring chat within a Team as our Safe Guarding Team are able to see any issues including the use of pictures which are also analysed which has already been of great benefit to us., https://www.senso.cloud/safeguarding-microsoft-teams/ 2
mavhc Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Interesting, https://support.senso.cloud/support/solutions/articles/17000109671-how-to-setup-microsoft-teams-chat-monitoring explains more
