Hi, I'm new to mailmerge and I want to create login "cards" for pupils. I have already designed a document/template of what I want and then the aim is to merge in a .csv of student names and logins/passwords for various applications.

My question is whether I can stylise the excel document I've created so that it can be used as a template for bringing the data in? I have tried this in Word but it kept deleting my stylised effort and using a new document with just the basic text itself. By stylise I just mean a border and a line in the middle to separate software packages. Many thanks! Lin

Hi,

I have had to do something similar at my school so I have a word mailmerge document and an excel spreadsheet which I use. I have attached anonomyzed versions them in a zip file, please feel free to play around with them if it helps. You will have to recreate the link in the Word document as it is set up for my machine and the pathname for the excel source file will be different, but that is fairly minor. Just put the data into the spreadsheet, I have a SIMS marksheet which allows me to populate it easily. If you change the headings you can change the fields in the Word document. Hope this helps.
