We have some dfe laptops that were meant for year 10 students and i want to know if they are meant for home use only or if they can be used in school instead? I wasn't sure if there were any stipulations set by the Dfe that they were for home use by year 10 students only or if we could re-purpose them.

Thanks

I was just asked the same question but when you read the DfE site it reads like the devices go home with the kids.

[h=2]Manage laptops, tablets and 4G wireless routers received from the DfE[/h]The DfE provided devices to local authorities and academy trusts between May and July 2020. These are being distributed to families, children and young adults most in need, who did not have access to them through another source, such as their school.

Devices will help children and young people to access remote education. These devices will also help to provide access to social care and other services to support safety and wellbeing.

Correct - and whilst they're not at home, there's no reason they can't be used in school. As long as they're allocated to that child then there are no known problems, and it's a bonus at the moment with working in bubbles, particularly if some have limited IT access within those bubbles.

None of ours went to the kids. We were given 4 all of which were for looked after children, not long before Lock down we had a budget to buy each a laptop, quite a decent budget too. We've since Re purposed the provided laptops, they're used by the kids who struggle with writing
