Chromebook purchase

A family member is looking for a Chromebook. Usage will generally be for browsing. She was looking at a £200ish budget and had identified an Acer 111 11.6inch machine at £185 and an ASUS Chromebook C423NA at £250. I have a feeling it would be better to stretch to £300 to get a quality better product with a bit more longevity. Any advice on the two listed machines and suggestions for something at the higher price point?

I personally don't like 11 inch Chromebooks due to them feeling cramped. So I look out for 14 or 15" with as much RAM as possible.

 

The Acer 314 looks like great value at £230 and updates until 2026.

 

The Asus C423 is the same price but updates until 2024.

Thanks for this - today (for family member) is birthday day so it's good timing - the Acer does look like a strong contender - it think it'll be whether to go A314 or slightly bigger screen with the A315.

Yeah, few differences. AMD instead of Celeron. Bigger, Full HD screen. Speakers on the side rather than under the keyboard.

 

But bigger bezels so looks uglier and £50 more.
