Advice Projection

A Client of mine is purchasing a ton of new surface laptops. What is the best way of seamlessly allowing teachers to project their screens to the whiteboard without disrupting the teachers computer that is always hooked up to it? Trying to avoid unplugging wires etc.. Is there a gadget I need?

Maybe try a wireless solution or just run another cable to the projector and change the input when needed.

We've had mixed to poor results with wireless display tech in classrooms. I'd look at another input like Protec suggests. If you wanted to make it almost transparent for the end user I've used NEET HDMI auto-switchers very effectively at home (although this would be adding in another thing to go wrong)

 

Depending on what else they want and how they plan to use the surface while it's connected, it might be worth looking at docks (either the official surface dock or 3rd party USB-C ones). The first place I worked every teacher had their own laptop and each room had laptop docking stations so the projector, wired network and USB for the IWB was a single connector. If they're going to be plugging a couple of things in then it makes for a much neater/easier solution.

Some kind of remote desktop application running on the teacher laptop?

 

Or depending on what you're trying to show, edit a shared document (in G Suite or Teams) with the document open on the teacher laptop.

 

I used to use Chromecast for Education for this, but it was disabled and removed last month...

 

Other people on here use Apple TV or the Microsoft official Miracast wireless display adapters, but the teacher would need to swap the inputs for that to work. I tried a cheap wireless adapter and it was too laggy to be useful.
