Monitor with easy to switch inputs?

I have a Mac and a PC hooked up to my Monitor, and currently use a very old 4:3 dell monitor as it has a button on the front that just quickly switches between the 2 inputs. I also have a wide screen Fujitsu, but it's a complex shuffle through menus to switch from one to the other.

 

I'd like to get a widescreen monitor, but the ability to easily switch inputs is vital. Can anyone recommend one?

Wouldn't an external switch be easier?

Wouldn't a KVM switch be better if you have 2 machines? 1 keyboard, 1 mouse, 1 monitor?

I have had a KVM before, but I quite like this setup apart from the very old monitor

If you do opt for a switch of some kind, I'd suggest one with a positive hardware switch (like the one I linked to, not that I've used that model) as I have had quite expensive KVMs with rocker type switches or "autoswitch" decide to swap "sides" randomly.

 

P.S. if you have HDMI outputs and an HDMI monitor I have had this behind the TV for the PS3 and PS4 for a couple of months and it is good so far: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B089N33V8P . OOS, but others that look identical easy enough to find. I even reviewed it! Not that the PS3 sees much use...

 

 

P.P.S. Or you could use RDP or VNC depending on what you want as the "primary" machine (other remote access tools are available) and remote into the other machine when you need to? If you've space for 2 or more monitors and one of your devices supports it you could then have Mac on one screen, PC on the other. That's what I have at work: My PC on one, VM host on the other. (Plus a third mainly for balance/looking cool).
