Sonic007 Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 I've got a Windows 2016 server with two VM's and have all the correct licensing in place for it. I need to do some testing so have setup a seeprate computer with my Windows Server install. Do I need extra licensing for a machine that will just be used for testing? Will the moment I connect it to the net it cause issues for my current active server? Many thanks for the help.
FishCustard Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Not if it's just going to be running for a week or two - there's a grace period before activation is required. It used to be 120 days in the "old days", but I'm not sure what it is now. 1

Chris_Cook Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 There used to be evaluation versions of windows on Technet for this, gave you 180 days or something. Not sure if its still a thing.
