steveg Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 Setting up new Unifi network with radius to NPS server. Previously with the old ruckus network, I set the client to the ip of the ruckus controller, same on the smoothwall and all worked. Did that with unifi and it doesn't work. Configured both with the ip of the access point and it works fine. Do I need to add each access point as a radius client with unifi and not the controller? Just want to check before I go and do it for all 20 aps!
robyholmes Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 Yes I think you do. If you have the APs in a range you can enter a range on the Smoothwall to save time. 1
steveg Posted August 13, 2020 Author Posted August 13, 2020 Thanks, didn't want to go to all that effort if it wasn't needed, will reserve them ips together and put a range in.
Simcfc73 Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 We've got this setup and I haven't got it reliable yet. I've set the WIFI to use the NPS server for Radius which talks to Sophos to get them into the right filtering groups. Problem I have is.. When I roam it sometimes comes up on my phone to say you need to sign in to access the WIFI... but when I click on it then I am let straight back in. Today I had it where it wouldn't get a lease... but I rebooted the AP and it started working. Then I had it where it said it was connected but I couldn't get on the internet (no errors).. when I looked at the controller it said it was unauthorised but it didn't redirect to the logon page. I've done loads of testing but can't work it out.... even got to the stage of RMAing a couple of APs' after speaking to tech support. Sorry to hijack the thread.

I'd suggest creating a new thread - people who can help you who have Sophos firewalls aren't always going to drop into a post that has the subject with Smoothwall in it.
mdrabble Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 Are you APs on their own VLAN? If so, you can add an IP range - that’s what I did for my UniFi setup using NPS and smoothwalll.
