I am currently in the process of evaluating possible pull print / follow me solutions.

The current printer setup is not standardized (there are old HP LaserJet 600/M600 printers and Sharp MX 4060/70 printers). The HP printers support network printing but don't have an interface that would allow users to authenticate. Also, the QR code is a wrong solution since not all users have a corporate phone. Has anyone experience with using an additional device for authentication with the old printers? Which pull printing solutions are you using, and what are your experiences when implementing such? Regards

Papercut, though all our mfps support the client.

Not sure how the release station stuff works but id suspect its not cheap to implement, thought i bet you could do some stuff with a pi and a small lcd panel thing on them if you get creative

PaperCut all the way. FYI you need to be licensed to use a release station I think 1 is included by default. You could use the web interface to release jobs or just let them print out if you don't want to spend more than needed. Put restrictions on them queues and any big jobs go via the Sharp machines.
