The lastest adm file should have the setting in it for runonce as pictured in the link below.

Pretty certain iirc the adm file is stored on the client in Windows\INF

You then add it in AD and replace the older version.

Your right they are stored in the inf folder but still old adm files 03/10/06.

We need the latest as pictured. On the MS website it says the date of the ADM file is 10/04/07 but then when you download and properties the file it is the old version. 03/10/06.

Thanks

Right, from memory the MSI extracts the updated ADM into the Program Files directory. You need to move it from here and overwrite the existing intres.adm in C:\Windows\Inf

Thanks, I know where the files are extracted from the MSI but the date of the file properties is still 03/10/06 which is the old ADM file. Looks like microsoft has got there link wrong as on their web page it says 10/04/07.

You're right about the date. The main thing you'll find about the IE7 intres.adm file, is that it's much larger than the IE6 one. This is because there are a lot more policies to tweak.

I agree it would a useful policy but I'm unable to find it in the 04/10/06 ADM template. Any help on where I can find an up-to-date adm template with the runonce policy in it would be very helpful.

Once you've copied the file into C:\Windows\Inf, open up Active Directory and select the relevant OU.

Under User Configuration, right click Administrative Templates > Add/Remove Templates

Make sure the Intres.adm is the correct version, if not, click Add.

Then navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer

All the policies will be in here. If they're not, then you definitely need to import the file.

Thanks for your help. Found the policy in the adm template we require to stop the runonce and works a treat.
