Unifi is Airtime + Airview worth the extra cost?

Trying to decide between UAP-AC-HD and UAP-AC-SHD - the latter having an additional security radio, that supports Airtime and Airview, which while they seem useful for troubleshooting, I'm not sure how much value there is in having them - there is a pretty significant cost difference.

 

I can find reviews from a couple of years ago, which talk of new features that the SHD is going to have, but can't find many details of these actually having been implemented in the software?

That's Ubiquiti in a nutshell really. Just look at how long it took them to release layer 3 switching capability that was promised with the gen1 unifi switches (later all mention was removed from marketing stuff) and eventually they got there with the unifi gen2 pro switches.

 

Have a look at the controller and AP firmware release notes to see what features they have added. That's probably the best way to see if it's been implemented yet. Link to release notes on their forum.

They have implemented layer 3 in the edge switches like the ES-16-XG but it does not support IPv6 routing, any dynamic routing or IP redundancy features or at least it didn't about a year ago when I had mine.
