Ubiquiti UniFi-Video Being Discontinued

Just came accross this annoucement from Ubiquiti in relation to their NVR software:

It seems they'll be discontinuing their stand-alone installable NVR software from the end of this year. Not a huge issue - you can still use other NVR software with Ubiquiti cameras, or you can use their supported hardware device (which, at around £300, looks pretty good), just handy to know, especially if you're planning on working on your CCTV setup over the summer.

Interesting, might be time to get the School to upgrade the NVR, mind you the NVR we have is an old server which I set up to test one camera and it ended up running all of the CCTV... I've not upgraded the software in a while so I guess it'll just keep working with no updates regardless.

We've got a Unifi Video running with 54 cameras quite happily but have stuck on version 3.9.12 - anything beyond this version was just utterly useless.

 

Must admit I quite excited (as much as I can be around CCTV) with their upcoming UnifiProtect Server UNVR which for just under £300 (plus Hard Drives) which will support up 50 cameras - so we can shuffle our cameras onto one (or two) of those instead.

Yikes, what a clickbait title!!!

 

Annoyingly, it does seem that they're kinda giving up on the UAS-XG as well? Which is an issue for those of us with lots of their switches - the old Cloud Key couldn't handle hardly any of them. The new one is only 4x as powerful, so I'd still question how good it is.
