Smart Notebook and Adobe Reader DC Plug In Slowdown

I have some machines where Adobe Reader DC is taking a long time to load. (1-2 Mins)

 

After looking in to this more, it is being caused by SMARTPlugin.api inside C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\plug_ins

 

Either by removing this file or disabling protected mode at startup solves the problem.

 

Has anyone else come across this before and have a solution?

 

Does anyone know how removing this plugin affects using Smart Notebook?
