Disabling O365 OWA Chat

Hello there

We're faced with an issue at the moment, whereby students have discovered the 'chat' feature within OWA on outlook.office.com

Does anyone know how we can disable this element? I've been looking for the last hour or so and haven't really got anywhere on it..

I've disabled the IM feature in the global EAC OWA policy but that's made no difference

 

Any help is greatly appreciated!

How long ago did you do it? Those settings are very slow to replicate normally.

 

You can disable it per user using powershell etc too

This was done on Friday and I've just tested it this morning (Tuesday) but it hasn't seemed to disable the function

I've also applied a test policy and verified that's applied (by adding in a 'feature' we normally have off) as that showed that instantly

 

I've checked our student licenses too but there is no sign that it's anything to do with a Skype for Business license as none of them have that license assigned
