genesis Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 Hi If you have moved to 0365 and Please can you let me know if you are giving access for students to use teams. Firstly Teaching staff and students to have a video chat ? Students to Students video chat ? Is this a matter of safeguarding and child protecting ? Your suggestions much appreciated.
MkII Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 Welsh Government guidance is always to have a 2nd adult attend private video chats so 2 adults to 1 child at least. We allow 1-1 text chat beteen pupils and 2-1 (as above) text chat pupils to staff. Private video and audio is disabled for pupils but allowed for staff.
mavhc Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 I don't think there's a way to have chat enabled for students but only to teachers anyway.
genesis Posted June 22, 2020 Author Posted June 22, 2020 "Private video and audio is disabled for pupils but allowed for staff." Does this mean that anything apart from Teams is not allowed? Thanks
Jamman960 Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 We've not allowed pupils to use 1:1 comms at all, unfortunatly this also means that staff aren't able to contact them directly either, we are doing live lessons but myself and our safeguarding lead have to be invited into all meetings, if staff feel they need to record they can. Myself and the safeguarding lead pop into meetings at random - we're an independent though so don't have rules coming down from the LA etc on how we should manage it all.

Thanks Private chat can be disallowed and chat in Channels and meetings can still be used for pupils - if that's what you mean
djm968 Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 Best option is to create a remote learning policy with your DSL and approved by your SLT. See example below. https://schoolleaders.thekeysupport.com/covid-19/deliver-remote-learning/lead-your-approach/remote-learning-policy-model/
mavhc Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 You'd have to create a Chat Team, invite every pupil, then create a channel for each pupil. Luckily powershell is a thing
